Error Display and Corrective Action

Descriptions of errors during operation and corrective actions are shown below.

Errors issued by device

Displayed Message Error Description Corrective Action
NOT READY Displayed when the device is not ready. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
DEVICE FAULT Displayed when the device failed. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
CORRECTABLE ERROR Displayed when a correctable data error occurred. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
BAD BLOCK Displayed when BAD BLOCKMARK occurred in the sector ID field of the device. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
UNCORRECTABLE ERR Displayed when a non-correctable data error occurred. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
ID ERROR Displayed when the sector ID field of the device was not found. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
ABORT Displayed when the item was aborted due to a device error or invalid command code. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
TRACK0 ERROR Displayed when Track 0 of the device was not found when RECALIBRATE command was issued. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
AM ERROR Displayed when device address was not found. Device may be physically damaged.
Replace with a non-defective device.
UDMA CRC ERROR Displayed when CRC error occurred during item execution. Cables may have a bad connection.
Remove the cable between the main unit and device, connect the cable again, check the connection, then execute the item again.
